Dear athletes, families, coaches, referees and badminton lovers,
Since its foundation in 1996, the Turkish Cypriot Badminton Federation has worked to develop badminton on our island. The foundations of this journey were laid by Brian Hughes and his wife Helga, who introduced young people in Nicosia to the sport in the 1990s. Today, in place of that small group, we have clubs, leagues, national teams and a growing family of athletes.
Since I took office in 2015, our priority has remained the same: to spread badminton and give young people an environment in which they can develop. Our Minis, Juniors and Youth leagues, inter-school competitions, national team trials from U11 to U19, and the coaching and refereeing courses we organise together with the Turkish Badminton Federation are the results of this work. In 2020 we also brought Air Badminton to our country with a new court in front of our federation building.
The results our athletes achieve at Turkish championships and international tournaments are our greatest source of pride. These successes are the shared work of our clubs, coaches, families and the organisations that support us.
We built our new website so that you can easily find everything about the federation. You can now follow the event calendar, rankings, licensing and course information in one place. Everyone who wants to start playing badminton is welcome at our clubs.
