Under-15 TRNC Badminton Championship Ends

SILA AND SEYMEN WIN THE UNDER-15 BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP

The Under-15 TRNC Championship organised by our federation was held on Saturday 3 September 2016. Forty-six athletes took part, and the tournament attracted strong interest despite the very hot weather. Matches began with an opening ceremony at 10.00 and ended with an award ceremony at 18.00. A total of 68 closely fought matches were played across 5 categories. In thrilling singles finals, Seymen Deniz of Near East University won the boys' title, as he had in the last three tournaments, and Sıla Hacıarif, also of Near East University, beat Eren Özuyanık, winner of the last three tournaments. Speaking before the award ceremony, Federation President Fırat Deniz thanked all the athletes for their outstanding performance despite the heat, the coaches who trained them and the referees who officiated throughout the championship. He also thanked the parents and fans who followed the matches from early morning to the last match, saying that every child who took part was a champion and that the real winner was Turkish Cypriot badminton.
